Up to 1.5 year

Hug by Jez Alborough
Hug: Book and Toy Gift Set[ With Toy Gift Set]
The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Your little one is growing fast. At this age, they want to explore more with their tini-tiny fingers. Let them! Board books are still the best.
By 1.5years, boys and girls make it very clear whether they like cars, dinos, elephants, owls, fairies or any other creature/thing. Hence my next blog will have book list for "Favorites." Till then happy reading with your tiny tots!!!

It's Potty Time for Girls/Boys: Potty training made easy
Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown (show the video too: Video)

Suggestions:
  • Get board books! Give your child an opportunity to explore the books with their tiny hands and get familiar with them. Start with something that catches his/her eye. (For example my son was very attracted to the red balloon in goodnight moon, he wouldn't let me turn the page and came back to the same page repeatedly and would say "ba...ba.." Always encourage the full pronunciation of words (eg. "balloon") and read the page again.
  • I also suggest that these books should be read with the child in your lap.

Book suggestions for this weekend....

Being a mom of a soon to be 4 year old, (I think) makes me eligible for a few suggestions regarding children's books..:P)...

I was not an avid reader during my school years, my friends can vouch for that ;). However, in the years beyond the playful school years, one thing led to another and reading became a habit of sorts.

Becoming a mother changed the course of this habit. After I got over the cooing stage with Krishang (my son) at around 7 months, I panicked. I knew I wanted to read good books to my precious little one. I had no clue regarding what to read and when to read. So, I decided to use the internet to my advantage. Mind you, it took hours of searching, contemplating, reading and decision making.

Some suggestions I would like to make for each age group:

Until 6 months:
These are good books to pack when travelling. Easy to use for the little exploring hand.

The 'Cuddly Duck' book has a teether attached + a squeaky toy to keep the little one comfortable and entertained.
I prefer the CD over the book for calming the baby at night.
