Suggestions:
- Get board books! Give your child an opportunity to explore the books with their tiny hands and get familiar with them. Start with something that catches his/her eye. (For example my son was very attracted to the red balloon in goodnight moon, he wouldn't let me turn the page and came back to the same page repeatedly and would say "ba...ba.." Always encourage the full pronunciation of words (eg. "balloon") and read the page again.
- I also suggest that these books should be read with the child in your lap.
